If you are an experienced art educator or maker with exceptional customer service skills and a desire to inspire creativity, we want to hear from you.
Core responsibilities include designing and leading engaging art and tinkering activities for families and school groups.
You will also prototype projects, acquire, maintain, and organize materials and supplies, and train and supervise support staff in both galleries.
The Art Studio Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Manager On Duty (MOD) and the operations team to provide an exceptional visitor experience during busy days and events.
The core schedule for this position is Tues - Sat or Weds - Sun.
As our Art Studio Coordinator, you will:
Provide great customer service, modeling best practices in engagement and educational activity delivery.
Oversee a small team as needed, making sure they understand their duties, have proper training and supplies, and meet performance expectations.
Manage consumables inventory and in-kind donations.
Create and maintain calendar of exciting activities for Art Studio, MakeSpace, Holiday Events, and HOCM After Hours to communicate to Marketing Department.
Ensure child safety protocols and that the Art Studio and MakeSpace are cleaned and well-stocked throughout the day.
Participate in internal communications with other departments to schedule use of shared materials, coordinate procurement of recycled materials, etc.
A qualified candidate will have:
Demonstrated experience in art education and art making, with a teaching background desired.
Experience in creating and providing educational programming for a high volume of children, including crafts and make & take activities.
Excellent customer service skills - must be comfortable creating a welcoming learning environment where all visitors feel encouraged to participate in activities.
Ability to work independently with limited direction in a fast-paced environment with a great deal of flexibility.
Experience training and supervising staff and/or volunteers.
Excellent initiative and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in art/science/maker/electronic media.
Strong project management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
Bachelor's Degree preferred, relevant work experience may substitute.
