Note:

Duties and Responsibilities Circulates judicial opinions and maintains circulation records.
Keeps accurate record of case assignments for each court term; organizes, coordinates, and checks the accuracy of confidential data relating to the status and circulation of judicial opinions.
Observes flow of circulation, calling attention to deadlines; maintains statistical data and compiles weekly and monthly reports on circulation of opinions; develops and maintains circulation computer records and prepares ad hoc reports as requested.
Responsible for assessing the circulation process to identify areas for improvement.
Composes and prepares memoranda and folders for opinion circulation; initiates correspondence and confers with pro tempore judges relating to opinion matters.
Assists in development of internal court rules necessary for implementing programs.
Maintains information and data on committee appointments and assignments made by the Chief Justice; maintains files of committee reports and action; assembles and summarizes information and data for use by the Chief Justice; drafts related correspondence as requested by the Chief Justice or his/her Administrative Assistant.
At Chief Justice's request, arranges all aspects of official court receptions and group meetings; oversees and coordinates use of reception room; oversees robe room; maintains the Justices' coffee fund.
Answers letters and telephone requests for information assistance and publications.
Assists the Judicial Administrative Assistant to the Chief Justice in drafting and finalizing correspondence, memoranda, and reports, when necessary.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications and Credentials Associate of Arts degree in business administration, secretarial science, or related fieldAND Four (4) years of progressively responsible clerical/secretarial experience, two years of which should have been in a legal or court environment.
Two (2) years' experience must have been managing a major project demonstrating the ability to work independently.
Word processing experience is required.
Administrative secretarial experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Education may be substituted for non-legal clerical/secretarial experience.

Ability to use computer systems and learn/use new computer applications.
Knowledge of research methods/data collection techniques.
Ability to prepare reports independently.
Knowledge of organization & operation of the WA State court system.
Knowledge of the internal operations of the Supreme Court and its departments.
Knowledge of appellate practices/procedures, courts of limited or general jurisdiction.
Knowledge of forms & documents of appellate court procedures & the legal system.
Ability to apply/interpret court rules, make sound judgments on legal procedures.
Ability to understand customer expectations and meet those expectations.
Accuracy and attention to detail in the delivery of work products.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, sensitivity to critical issues.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
