LOCATION:
This position is based out of OlyMAP's office and New Hope Village, both located at the First Christian Church in downtown Olympia.
This role will also at times require working out of community partner locations--such as other social service settings-- and outreach to other camp communities (sanctioned and unsanctioned) in Thurston County.
The New Hope Village (NHV) is a sanctioned tiny home village for houseless single adults and couples without children that uses a supported self-governance model to guide operations.
NHV is hosted at First Christian Church in downtown Olympia and consists of 6 tiny homes, able to shelter 6-12 adults.
OlyMAP provides operational and on-site support for the community (not 24/7).
The NHV Site Support Worker is OlyMAP's dedicated New Hope staff and is the primary person responsible for providing on-site support for the community.
On-site support includes provision of basic site support services, case management and support with ongoing development and facilitation of the community's self-governance model.
The NHV SSW may also assist, as needed, with relationship building and facilitation of communication between NHV, OlyMAP, First Christian Church (FCC), neighbors and other community stakeholders.
The NHV SSW will work closely with other OlyMAP staff, FCC, other providers and other project partners to support and coordinate services, safety, and stability for all residents living at the community.
General
Responsibilities:
Provide case management support for community residents and work to support the improved safety, health, well-being, and stability of NHV residents and the community as a whole by facilitating connection to supplies, information and community services/resources.
Specifically by:
.
Conducting strengths-based assessments with residents related to housing and social service needs/barriers and working with residents to create individualized strength-based plans.
Services and goals that may be a part of individual plans include, but are not limited to:
housing placement, shelter placement, employment, education, ID attainment, obtaining/maintaining disability income such as SSI/SSDI/ABD/WIC, and connection to dental, medical, vision, hygiene, caregiving, legal, transportation, mental health, and substance use services.
a.
Supporting residents in achieving the highest level of health and well-being for themselves and the community by providing strength-based case management and advocacy services for residents.
Support forward progress on goals aligned with their individualized plans.
This may include supporting residents with housing placement, obtaining IDs, obtaining employment or other sources of income (SSI/SSDI/ABD/WIC), and connecting and maintaining connections with other supportive services outlined in their plans.
b.
Working with residents to create individualized, strength-based plans for addressing recurring day-to-day needs (food, hygiene, transportation, etc.
) which may include connection to other providers or community services, with the intention of supporting participant self-sufficiency and efficacy.
c.
Maintaining knowledge of Thurston County resources and providing appropriate referrals (using a warm-handoff method) to address barriers to housing, employment, income, medical, mental health, substance use, and other essential services or quality of life improvements.
Educating site residents about what services are available to them and engaging residents in ongoing conversations about what their needs for services may be.
d.
Working with residents to ensure their individual living spaces remain safe and reasonably tidy and to address any concerns related to cleanliness, pest prevention/control, weatherproofing, monitoring fire hazards etc.
e.
Enrolling residents in Coordinated Entry (CE) and completing/updating Housing Equity Assessment Tools (HEATs) for residents with no current or updated assessment.
f.
Completing purchase requests for residents related to needed survival, safety, and hygiene supplies or other needed items related to their individual goals.
g.
Supporting residents in developing and maintaining financial/budgeting plans.
h.
Supporting residents in setting up appointments, tracking their schedule of appointments, and providing support and advocacy at appointments when needed.
i.
Assisting participants in accessing support/services related to moving, transportation, vehicle repairs and other forms of material support related to achieving their personal housing and service-related goals.
j.
Transporting residents and/or supplies in agency vehicles or Intercity Transit Community Van as needed, with the purpose of connecting residents to services, supplies, and other essential resources/supports related to their individualized-case management goals.
k.
Providing residents with up to date and accurate information related to community services, community events, and other information relevant to supporting their safety, health, and well-being through regular engagement, the creation and distribution of flyers, and other communication.
l.
Assisting residents as needed with the creation of safety plans with the goal of harm reduction and supporting residents in meeting their basic safety, security and survival needs.
m.
Providing connection to harm reduction services and supplies 1.
Outreaching regularly to the community with the purpose of building rapport and relationship, checking in with residents about how they are doing and what support they may be in need of and sharing community information and updates (such as upcoming event or meeting reminders) 2.
Supporting the community in hosting/facilitating community events with the purposes of improving site safety and health, community building, information sharing, etc.

Facilitating and documenting regularly scheduled community meetings 4.
Maintaining a list of current residents 5.
Working with other OlyMAP workers to record and track pertinent data related to the safety, health, and stability of the community and its residents, as well as relevant progress and barriers to progress.
This includes:

seeking input from and collaborating with residents, other OlyMAP workers, and community stakeholders to complete ongoing assessments of the camp community's current organization, strengths, challenges, needs and community impacts.
a.
periodically re-assessing assessment and identifying/tracking relevant progress/barriers to progress.
b.
tracking incidents, conflicts and disputes related to the community, in addition to tracking outcomes (as possible) and identified barriers to ideal outcomes.
c.
working with other OlyMAP workers to create and complete surveys and progress reports to track progress, successes and barriers/challenges related to OlyMAP's programs and services.
6.
Assisting the community with facilitation of communication, connections, and problem-solving between residents, neighbors, community partners and stakeholders to find mutually beneficial resolutions to conflicts that may arise.
7.
Working with NHV residents and other OlyMAP workers to support camp residents and communities with in-the-moment de-escalation/crisis response when individual crisis, problematic behaviors, conflicts, or other emergencies arise.

SSWs are not emergency responders or professional crisis responders.
Generally speaking, intervention/involvement in responding to crises should be limited to in the moment and connection/referral to other services or emergency/crisis responders.
10.
Participating in internal and external meetings as needed to coordinate services for residents, including the Greater Regional Outreach Workers League (GROWL) and Anti-Sweep Task Force (ASTF) meetings.
11.
Supporting residents in navigating implemented governance, accountability and Appeals processes.
This includes providing support and navigation assistance for residents who are going through accountability or appeals processes and who are at struggling to adhere to the Community's Agreements, with the goal of supporting the resident and the community in finding paths forward that address concerns and avoid expulsion or displacement.
12.
Providing and facilitating needed support for residents who do face expulsion from the community.
13.
Working with residents to maintain a safe, healthy, organized, clean and warm community.
This may include, but is not limited to assisting residents with facilitating regular community clean-ups, coordinating with pest control and fire departments for regular inspections, assisting residents to ensure completion of daily/regular cleaning and tidiness tasks, facilitating the improvement of community spaces and ensuring that security and visitor agreements are upheld.
14.
Facilitating community conversations and meetings related to the ongoing development and improvement of the community's supported self-governance structure.
15.
Assisting residents with ongoing democratic development, implementation, and facilitation of the community's visions, values, Codes of Conduct, and policies for operations and accountability.
16.
Creating and maintaining living and formal documents and documentation related to site management and governance.
17.
Supporting conflict resolution among/between camp residents, centering trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and transformative justice-based approaches.
18.
Supporting and facilitating access to ongoing education, workshops, and other opportunities for residents related to improving individual and community skills, including those necessary for self-governance and for improving supported self-governance processes in terms of equity, justice, and inclusion.
19.
Assisting with facilitating and supporting agreed-upon operations.
This includes appropriate interventions if decisions being made by the community are likely to cause harm to person or property, if the decisions being made violate the camp community's Code of Conduct, values or commitment to anti-violence, or if the decisions being made are outside the scope of what can be determined by residents.
20.
Assisting residents with completing and navigating Reasonable Modification/Accommodation requests.
21.
Completing regularly required documentation and data collection/entry in a timely and thorough manner, including but not limited to; a.
completing communication log entries b.
ensuring all residents have completed required paperwork (such as signed Community Agreements and Program Intakes) c.
creating, maintaining and updating case files and case notes utilizing both hard copy case files and electronic case files/profiles hosted on Ragic and the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) for all residents.
Required documentation will also include upkeep of documentation related to other resident required paperwork, needs for support, concerns/complaints, and accountability or other challenges.

Completing all required trainings and providing all services using an approach grounded in anti-oppression practices and Best Practices such as, but not limited to; Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care, Housing First, meeting people where they are, providing accessible and low-barrier services, Motivational Interviewing, Progressive Engagement etc.
23.
Assisting team members with ongoing continuous quality improvement to enhance program operations, including problem solving, helping to develop program systems or procedures, or participating in team workgroups.
